Action, Truth, Consequence is an informal board game in which the participants in turn offer to another participant to choose between answering a question or fulfilling a pledge, the interest of the game residing in the equally embarrassing nature of the one or the other of the choices, often touching on privacy (questions on private life, pledges involving partial nudity). It takes its name from the phrase by which the players challenge each other.
This game, particularly popular with teenagers, is generally played in the context of private parties. It is not uncommon for the rules to be changed in favor of less “tender” modes of play. In these parts, the pledges have a strong sexual connotation and the game is closer to the game of the bottle.
