The Tor Browser for Android is the only official mobile browser supported by the Tor project, which has developed the world’s most powerful tool for privacy and online freedom.
Note: For this release, you must also install Orbot, a proxy application that will connect the Tor browser for Android to the Tor network. For the next stable version of Tor Browser for Android, our goal is that Orbot does not need to connect to Tor.
Known issue: Our security slider is now under “Security Settings”, but due to a small issue, it only appears after you restart the application. We plan to fix it for the next release.
When you use the Tor browser for Android, your traffic is relayed and encrypted three times when it passes over the Tor network. The network is made up of thousands of servers run by volunteers, called Tor Relays. Watch this animation to learn more about how it works:
