When you install overlays for the first time, after the build and activate, you must reboot again and then Activate Overlays. To update an overlay you must first disable it then build and activate, there is no need to reboot again except for the Android system overlay.
PSBA applications like Clock, Mail, Gallery, Contacts and Dialer may or may not work, because each custom ROM has its own variant of these applications, so if you get an error while compiling, any don’t to install them.
